Event Overview
The Sri Chinmoy 10km & 4km Fun-Runs are held at Acton Park in Canberra, following the signposted Sri Chinmoy 10km Recreational Running Course beside Lake Burley Griffin. For 2026, the Labour Day edition is scheduled for Monday 5 October. The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team has run these events since 1984, using an established, measured and marked course, with start and finish at Acton Park.
What the Course Demands
With both distances using the same recreational loop network, pacing discipline matters, especially for athletes aiming to run evenly while managing changes in rhythm through the course’s contours. The 10km rewards controlled early effort and steady turnover, while the 4km tends to magnify any over-fast start. As a twice-yearly event on a familiar route, it also lends itself to clear benchmarking from one edition to the next.
Who This Event Suits Best
This event suits runners who want a straightforward, measurable race effort over 4km or 10km, including those using it as a fitness check or return-to-racing option. The 4km works well for newer runners and juniors, while the 10km fits athletes looking for a sustained threshold-style run. It also suits those who prefer a known course and simple logistics at a single venue.
