Event Overview
The Wild Horse Criterium is a running event hosted by AAA Racing & Coaching and based at the car park at the foot of Wild Horse Mountain in Queensland. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Easter Sunday, 5 April, with a marathon, half marathon, 10km, and a 1.5km fun run for under-10s. Start times run from 6:00am through to 9:00am, with an overall cut-off of midday for all events.
What the Course Demands
Course specifics are not yet published, with organisers noting the course is to be determined and map links to be released. Even so, runners should plan for self-management on course, including carrying a water bottle and having access to course directions via a mobile device or printed map. Earlier start times may also suit use of a headlamp, as listed in the mandatory kit requirements.
Who This Event Suits Best
This event suits runners who are comfortable following course directions independently and who can meet mandatory kit expectations. The range of distances can work for first-time participants stepping up to 10km, as well as experienced runners targeting the half marathon or marathon. It can also suit families with under-10s looking for a short, low-commitment fun run option.
