Event Overview
Kingscliff Triathlon is scheduled for Sunday 22 November 2026 in Kingscliff, New South Wales, with racing centred around Cudgen Creek and nearby parklands. The program includes Olympic (Swim 1.5km / Bike 40km / Run 10km), Sprint (Swim 0.75km / Bike 20km / Run 5km), and shorter Tempta and Pinky triathlons, plus Aquabike options that finish after the bike leg. Kids events are also offered, including the non-timed Discover Tri and Kids Triathlon categories.
What the Course Demands
Across the main events, the swim is set in Cudgen Creek, with the Olympic described as tide-assisted. Bike and run legs are configured as lapped courses, which can reward athletes who manage pacing and positioning through repeated turns and passing. The Aquabike finish is taken at the timing mat over the run exit of transition after racking the bike, so athletes need to be clear on the finish procedure and flow through transition on completion.
Who This Event Suits Best
This event suits a wide range of triathletes, from juniors and first-timers in the Discover and Kids races through to experienced athletes targeting the Olympic distance, which includes Open and Age Group categories. Tempta and Pinky provide shorter formats for those building confidence in triathlon. Aquabike options are relevant for athletes who prefer swim-bike racing without the run leg. Team entries are available for several distances.
Preparing for This Event
If you are considering this event and want some structure around your preparation, a targeted training plan can help you arrive feeling confident rather than underprepared. The aim is not to train harder, but to train in a way that suits the distance, terrain, and likely conditions of the course.
Choosing a plan is optional, but having structure can remove uncertainty and make training easier to repeat week to week. The best option is the one that fits your current fitness, available time, and experience level.
