Event Overview
Potato Hopper & Snake Plains is the closing event of the Kunanyi Trail Series, held from Fern Tree Park in Hobart, Tasmania on Sunday 1 November 2026. Two distances are offered: the Potato Hopper Enduro 21km and the Snake Plains Sport 13km. Check-in opens from 7:15am, with a briefing at 8:45am, then staggered starts at 9:00am (Enduro) and 9:10am (Sport).
What the Course Demands
Both courses climb from the start and include extended sections that reward steady pacing and confident footwork. The 21km Potato Hopper is described as ranging from very smooth to very technical, with rocky terrain and a long, fast return via the Pipeline Track. The 13km Snake Plains shares the opening before turning onto a more rugged line that can be eroded and boggy in parts.
Who This Event Suits Best
This event suits runners who are comfortable handling variable underfoot conditions and want a longer, more technical challenge or a shorter option with similar character. The 21km best fits athletes seeking a demanding course with sustained climbing and technical segments. The 13km is a good match for runners stepping up in distance while still needing solid trail skills.
