Event Overview
The DV Awareness Criterium is an AusCycling Queensland open event hosted by Lifecycle Cycling Club at Albert Bishop Park in Nundah. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Sunday 15 November, with graded racing across men’s divisions, women’s grades, juniors, and para categories including tandems, handcycles and trikes. Racing starts from 7:00am, with entries managed via EntryBoss and closing mid-week prior to race day.
What the Course Demands
As a criterium-format race, the event is defined by repeated accelerations, frequent changes of pace, and the need to hold position within a graded bunch. Durations range from short junior races to 45 minutes plus two laps for top grades, so athletes should expect sustained periods near threshold alongside short, high-output efforts. Good bunch awareness and efficient cornering and braking control are typically decisive.
Who This Event Suits Best
This event suits riders who are comfortable in a bunch and want a structured graded race environment, from juniors through to elite and masters categories. It also fits athletes looking for a shorter, higher-intensity competition format rather than long-distance racing. Para athletes racing tandem, handcycle or trike categories are included, with start times scheduled later in the morning.
Preparing for This Event
If you are considering this event and want some structure around your preparation, a targeted training plan can help you arrive feeling confident rather than underprepared. The aim is not to train harder, but to train in a way that suits the distance, terrain, and likely conditions of the course.
Choosing a plan is optional, but having structure can remove uncertainty and make training easier to repeat week to week. The best option is the one that fits your current fitness, available time, and experience level.
