Event Overview
Macedon Trail Run takes place on Sunday 4 October 2026 at Mount Macedon in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges. Hosted by Trailsplus as Race 4 of the Mountain Trail Series, the event offers 10km, 21km, 30km, 42km and 50km distances. The start and finish are set at the BBQ area beside the carpark at the top of the mountain, with check-in and wave starts scheduled across the morning.
What the Course Demands
This event is built around varied mountain terrain with sustained ascents and descents, so effort can fluctuate frequently across the course. Trailsplus describes the routes as challenging and rewarding, with visibility sometimes limited by fog on Mount Macedon. Across all distances, athletes should expect repeated climbing and descending to influence pacing, leg durability, and the ability to run efficiently after longer uphill efforts.
Who This Event Suits Best
Macedon suits runners who are comfortable managing changes in gradient and who prefer a course that rewards controlled pacing over constant rhythm. The 10km and 21km options can work for athletes newer to mountain events, while the 30km through 50km distances are better matched to runners with established endurance and experience handling longer climbs and extended descents.
